Greg Lehmkuhl is the creative director of Terrain—a garden, home, and outdoor lifestyle brand from the team behind Anthropologie. I was hoping for so much more. Other than a good section on how to make wreathes and a few pictures - including the cover - that we have already seen online on the Terrain site- this is 3/4" Hard Bound page after page AFTER PAGE of muted colors of beige an brow...lots of twigs....moss...and ferns. It reminds me of a walk through the woods on a rainy PNW afternoon but there's not much to see after the first 10 pages. Really disappointing and wish I had never bought it. The online site has glimmers of magic here and there so really expected this book to offer a lot more magic for my eyes and many more creative ideas than using Twigs, Moss, Firms and flowers that quite frankly look pretty boring.
Having already purchased a copy for a friend I decided to treat myself to this beautiful book. I am fortunate enough to live near the Pennsylvania Terrain stores and the book reflects the exquisite taste of these venues. Like a well-planned garden room, the atmosphere (of store and book) combine a down-to-earth but sophisticated and airy coziness.When the book arrived, I found myself looking at every page and drawn to certain pages for further study. Of particular value, I thought, were the ideas inspired by the fall and winter seasons. I know I will turn to the wreath-making pages often for reference. I also found the suggestions about container planting very detailed and helpful. This book would be helpful for the beginner gardener or decorator wishing to know where to start as well as for the more experienced individual looking for inspiration and a "spring-board" for their own creativity.The illustrations on every page. The text is not only well written but also reveals considerable expertise. At the end is a listing of the authors' favorite gardens. Several, in my own region, are new to me.I have amassed a large number of decorating books claiming to "bring the outdoors In," but this is definitely the best!
I love Terrain: Ideas & Inspiration for Decorating the Home & Garden! This book has it all. I've read/viewed many books over the years, and this by far is my favorite. It's filled with original inspiration for every season.
This book is beautifully written and full of ideas from one of my favorite stores - terrain. The book reflects the uniqueness of the store and website - there is no place like Terrain. These are not gaudy standard decorations. The projects described are reflections of nature and include detailed instructions for making your own. A great book to gift yourself or a family member.

I love Terrain so I was excited to get this book and it did not disappoint. The photographs were really lovely and there were nice suggestions on both indoor and outdoor potted arrangements for all seasons. If you are a gardening and enjoy a slightly minimalistic/Scandi style, this book is for your.
