Anything that adds to your knowledge of your desired subject matter is always a plus, but the information that is written in this book by Mr. Petersen is simply amazing. You also benefit by his writing style. It certainly isn't one of "DUMMIES" books, but it takes you from the beginning to the end of the specific subject matter. In this particular book it is the Shovelhead engine. No matter your age there is a specific engine that says Harley Davidson to you and the Shovelhead does it for me. I still like to wrench on mine and have been for some time, but I also like to do it correctly and with a goal in mind. This book allows me to do that. Thank you Donny Petersen.
My husband has an illness....rebuilding old Harleys. Hardly ever rides them, won't sell them butloves to play in the grease! I purchased this for him and he says this is his "go to" book for anythinghe runs across he is unsure of. Saves him time & money so makes for happier wife.
I ride a Twin-Cam. When Donnie describes these, I find the book interesting. When describing the Pans, Knucks & Evos, I'm less interested except from a historical perspective.I like this book because it allows me to have the knowledge & experience of a mechanic of 30+ years without having to have busted my knuckles for 30+ years.Any person really interested in Harleys should add this to his/her collection.
Donny is an intelligent and creative thinker with YEARS of experience behind everything he says and it shows in this (and the whole series of) book(s). Even if you're not a wrench looking for technical how-to info the history lesson alone is worth the price of admission.If you want to know EVERYTHING Harley, and I mean EVERYTHING, I think only Willie himself could tell you more (and I'm not even sure about that - Donny might very well know more).

Nicely done. Essentially a compilation of shop notes and a compendium of knowledge that can only be gained by living it. Well worth the price.
Prior to this publication there is very little information written about the the Harley- Davidson twin cam engine. I have a better understanding of how the fuel injected twin cam engine works and do not feel intimidated installing aftermarket parts on the bike without having to buy OEM parts and having the dealer install them. ( Very expensive. )This Book goes into what works. Great value especially on the Kindle!
