About the Author
A. A. Milne was born in 1882 in London. He was a playwright and journalist as well as a poet and storyteller. His classic children's books were inspired by his son, Christopher Robin. Milne died in 1956.Born in Budapest in 1910, Alexander Lenard was a graduate of the famous Theresianum in Vienna. A refugee from Hitler who migrated to Brazil by the way of Rome, he worked variously as a pharmacist, math teacher, quiz show contestant, farmer, painter, poet, and pianist as well as, of course, a translator. At the time of his death in 1972 he was fluent in twelve languages. Winnie Ille Pu was the product of over seven years of work, beginning with a German translation of the famous classic in 1951, on which A.A. Milne personally congratulated him.

I'm teaching myself Latin. Although I'm not very good at it yet, I have to stop reading often because I'm laughing out loud. My wife may start questioning my sanity. Just read the first page and you'll understand why it went from a 300 copy first print to a New York Times bestseller.
I got this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, who speaks and teaches Latin. He absolutely loved it. He said it was very well translated and he is really enjoying himself as he reads through it. The only downside was that it took quite a while to finally arrive, several weeks after I ordered it, so I had to give it to him late.
Bought the book for my granddaughter - she loved Winnie the Pooh as a tot and then took Latin from 6th grade all the way through her senior year of high school...she is now in her 3rd year at college...she was thrilled to receive the book.
This is a lovely book about a lovable bear, his friends and adventures. If you like Winnie you should love this book. The Latin is fairly easy to understand and gives Winnie a new appeal. I didn't have very much instruction in Latin prior to buying this book. I learned how to read it out loud, and I got a basic grasp on the grammar. After only that, I can still read and understand this little book. The folks I have been working with have found that after a few readings, they know what is being said. This is how we learn our first language, and this is how people learn to think in other languages.I'd recommend this book to beginners who are looking to begin "the Natural way."
Classic literature in a classical language, what's not to love? My grandpa read these stories to me when I was little, and then I studied Latin in high school, so rereading them in Latin is amazing.
Bought this for my son when he was taking Latin 2 in college. Reading a book he related to really helped in learning Latin 2
This is a great way to learn some Latin and to begin to become familiar with the words and meanings. My recommendation, if you don't know Latin already, read this along with the English version...it will help you see what words mean what. Good purchase for me.
